Building Community in the Virtual Classroom
What happens to Place Based Learning when we are sequestered? How do we share the stories that provide understanding of ourselves and our communities? Join us in bringing community, connection and deeper meaning to the virtual classroom (and beyond). We are harnessing this unprecedented opportunity of crisis and isolation and transforming it into an opportunity to strengthen and restore ourselves, our students, and our communities.

At the conference, veteran teachers and other practitioners will share innovative and highly doable ideas that break down physical walls using storytelling techniques that cross disciplines. Conference workshop leaders are longtime CWI associates who come from K-16 classrooms, administrators concerned with larger issues of equity, along with community-based educator-innovators from a wide array of fields, including the arts, science, folklore, social justice, and more.

    Make Important Connections
Conference participants will experience new ways of working with a variety of exciting online apps that facilitate storytelling, community connections, and the spirit of CWI’s Place Based Service-Learning, Sustainability, and Global Citizenship initiatives. Before the conference, participants will be invited to make connections with other participants and CWI will provide additional ways to continue those connections as ongoing supportive relationships after the conference.

Certificate of Participation for Continuing Education Credit (CEU)
You may be eligible for continuing education credit of .6 CEU for participation in the full eight hour conference*. In collaboration with Otis College Extension, CWI is offering a Certificate of Participation with completion of the full conference, for an additional non-refundable fee of $25. To request this Certificate of Participation, when registering please choose the option that includes the Certificate of Participation fee.

*Please note: These CEU's represent time spent in a learning program. Check with your local LEA or professional organization to confirm eligibility. CEU's are not equal to academic credits (semester or quarter) and therefore will not count toward a degree.

    Registration Policies
No registrations can be accepted without payment. Sorry, no exceptions. Cancellation Policy: Consider thoughtfully before you register as refunds are not available for this event. Submission of your registration authorizes Community Works Institute (CWI) and its event partners to publish photos or video of you.
